Pai Tang

A Buddhist temple of the Tai Phake people in their village is seen at

the starting. As per tradition of the village the women provide

cooked food to the temple every morning ritualistically. Ye Lon, the

heroine of the film, visits the temple along with the group. While

returning from the temple with her friend Khya seng, she comes to

know that Khya seng is going to marry a young man from outside

their tribe. Gradually Ye Lon comes to know that the population of

their tribe is only 2000 and as per report of UNESCO their tribe’s

existence is threatened. Besides, they cannot read the texts of 400

Tai Phake manuscripts. She realizes that their language, culture

and entity would be lost from the earth. With this apprehension

she meets Bhante in the temple to discuss regarding the fate of

their tribe and to retrieve it from extinction opening a school to

teach the Tai Phake language to their new generation. The story

advances with the portrayal of their struggle to preserve the Tai

Phake tribe and their language.
